Surface Stories: Alternative Embroidery Canvases
Explore novel applications for modern embroidery using nature-inspired alternative surfaces! Students will begin by learning a variety of basic embroidery techniques, and we will move on to explore embroidering on materials beyond fabric including paper, photographs, bark, leaves, and fish leather. Using live demonstrations, students will learn techniques for preparing alternative surfaces for embroidery, transferring designs, and best practices for successfully applying embroidery to non-fabric materials – no previous experience required.
Embroidered Birch Bark Ornaments
Join Lyndsi of Evolutionary Thread Designs to create a beautiful embroidered birch bark ornament. Students will select their favorite pattern and work with Lyndsi to first paint with watercolors, add embroidered details, and finally finish the birch bark ornament with a beautiful beaded edge. This class is designed for students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced embroidery enthusiasts. All materials will be provided.

Join me as I kick off a special First Friday at 2 Street Gallery. The theme for this show is “Alaskana” - so expect to see some of your favorite scenes and little critters. I’m focusing on small originals this time around!
