Explore novel applications for modern embroidery using nature-inspired alternative surfaces! Students will begin by learning a variety of basic embroidery techniques, and we will move on to explore embroidering on materials beyond fabric including paper, photographs, bark, leaves, and fish leather. Using live demonstrations, students will learn techniques for preparing alternative surfaces for embroidery, transferring designs, and best practices for successfully applying embroidery to non-fabric materials – no previous experience required.
