Palmeria dolei (‘ākohekohe or crested honeycreeper) - 16”x16”

$1,489.00

This critically endangered honeycreeper is found only on the island of Maui in Hawaii. They are nectivores feeding on the flowers of ōhiʻa lehua. When flowers are scarce, they will also feed on insects, fruit, and nectar from other plants it finds high in the canopy where it spends most of its time.

Threats to the species are due primarily to deforestation, predation by introduced rat species, human collection, and the spread of avian diseases by mosquitoes.

This piece is displayed in a hand built solid wood frame. Glazing is museum quality anti-glare and UV-resistant glass.

Please note: The shipping is set at $50 and is an estimate. If additional shipping fees are required, they will be billed separately.
